Two of Juneau’s most popular tours in one family priced package!
Our guides meet you at the dock and take you for a scenic van ride to our first stop across the Channel up to the Eaglecrest Ski Area on Douglas Island, which is at the 1,200 foot level. During the drive, our guides provide you with historical information on the founding of Juneau, some of their favorite stories about Juneau, and what you are seeing along the way. Our guides, who all live in Juneau, range in age from 15 to 72, which makes for a variety of interesting experiences to share. They also love to answer your questions as we make our way to the set-up area.
The set-up area is where you are fitted with your helmet, disk braked mountain bike, given water bottles; and rain gear and gloves if necessary. We will also spend time going through the equipment with you and giving everyone a safety talk.
At our starting point of Eaglecrest Ski area cruise along a 5.2 mile that includes both downhill and uphill roads through the Southeast Rainforest. Enjoy spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountains, valleys and glaciers as you travel. On a clear day as you travel the Eaglecrest road you can see the Thomas Harding Glacier. And you will stop for interpretive talks about the unique flora and fauna of our Southeast Rainforest. Be sure to have your camera at the ready!
Next, travel approximately 2 miles along a fairly flat road for a camera break and, on a clear day, a breathtaking view across Fritz Cove of the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. This is a great place from which to spot eagles and later in the summer spawning salmon.
Continue on a 2 mile ride along the rugged Southeast coastline to False Outer Point where you will enjoy a light snack and a beverage. You will also have another opportunity to take pictures of the views.
Next, we get back in our vans for the short trip back to the Mt. Robert’s Tram will accompany you up the Tram as you rise 1,800 feet to the Mountain Sky Bridge. During the trip, the knowledgeable staff of the Mount Roberts Tram will help acquaint you with the native history of the area as well as what you are seeing outside the tram car on the quick trip up.
At the end of the ride, you will receive a brief introduction to the many available activities at the top. Then you are free to explore on your own the bald eagle exhibit, Nature Center, viewing platforms, or choose from one of the many alpine hiking trails at the top which provide amazing sites. Or, you can see a free movie on the Tlingit culture which shows every half hour. There is also a lovely Restaurant and a gift shop at the top.
Your tickets allow unlimited rides throughout the day, so stay and hike now, and then return later in the day.
Note: Liability waiver is required to be signed in the presence of the tour operator. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children 16 to 17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate without a parent or legal guardian.
