Because Every Kid Deserves a Great Bike
What is the Cycle Alaska Kid’s Bike Trade Up Program?
As parents we want to have a safe, attractive, fun bicycle for our growing children. Our trade-up program helps us do just that; so the fun lasts and lasts for our kids. That’s why we created the Kid’s Bike Trade-Up Program. When you purchase a kid’s bike from Cycle Alaska, you can bring it back within 3 years. At that time, we’ll give you up to 40% of the amount that you paid for the original bike as a credit towards a new bike. And you can continue to trade up until your child takes home an adult bike (26” or 700 cm wheel size) which is where the program ends.
Which Bikes May I Trade Up From?
You may trade-up any juvenile bicycle with 12”, 16”, 20”, or 24” wheels that was purchased from Cycle Alaska within 3 years from the date of original purchase.
Tricycles, BMX bicycles, and bikes purchased as used are not included in this program.
Only one bike per trade is allowed. If you have 2 or more kid’s bikes to trade, you are welcome to apply each bike to a separate trade.
Which Bikes may I Trade Up To?
You may trade-up to any new larger size bicycle that is intended for use by a child/teenager. You may not trade for a same-sized or smaller bicycle.
What Happens to My Old Bike?
Your old bike will make another child happy. We will fix it up and sell it as a used bike. Any bikes that do not sell within 1 year will be donated to charity.
How do I Receive 40% Credit?
The bike must be in good working condition or able to be made into such. And must be cosmetically appealing.
Good working condition is defined as:
A safe and functioning bicycle where all tires have no less than 50% of tread remaining, tubes hold air, no stripped nuts, bolts, or allen keys; brakes and pads stop bike adequately; drivetrain components (gears, chain, shifters, etc.) are in good condition, grips and seat are not torn, wheels and frame are intact, and all original accessories are present (i.e. baskets, training wheels, safety pads).
Cosmetically appealing is defined as:
Rust-free; not excessively scratched; paint is not excessively chipped. We do expect some minor scratches and marks.
You can still receive credit if the bike can be made safe and appealing. We will simply reduce the credit based on our costs to improve the bicycle.
Of course, we expect the bike to be gently used, but not damaged.
